How to Measure
Step 1
Measure the height of the wall where you want to install your awning.
SunSetter awnings require a minimum height of 7 feet 6 inches from your deck or patio floor to the bottom of any roof, eave, or overhang.
Step 2
Measure along the wall of your house at the desired mounting height to determine your awning width.
SunSetter Awnings are fabricated to match the following width measurements:
- Most awning models match the size measured.
(example: 14 ft. size awning = 14 ft. actual width) - All Platinum Plus (Semi-Cassette) models measure 3 inches wider than size measured.
(example: 16 ft. size awning = 16 ft. 3 in. actual width) - Awnings that are 10 feet measure 3 inches wider than size measured.
(example:?10 ft. size awning = 10 ft. 3 in. actual width)
Special Considerations:
- Fabric width is 4 ½ inches narrower than awning width for all models except...
- Platinum Plus (Semi-Cassette) fabric width is 7 ½ inches narrower than awning width.
Step 3
For Motorized models only:
Please indicate whether you want your electrical awning as you face the house. It should be closest to your outdoor electrical outlet.
Step 4
Choose the style of Mounting Brackets for your type of installation:
- Wall Brackets (most common) – Requires 8 inches of clear, unobstructed horizontal space along the entire width of your awning at the height it is being mounted
- Soffit Brackets – Only used when mounting to the underside of an overhang
Special Considerations:
- Platinum Plus (Semi-Cassette) models require 9 inches of horizontal mounting space.
- XL models installed with optional Aluminum Hood require 11 inches of mounting space.
- Non-XL models installed with optional Aluminum Hood require 9 inches of mounting space.
